There was a time where design played a crucial role in shaping the nation's cultural branding. What didn't make to the whole story was who has the time to reflect, who receives support, and who is given space to speak critically. These negotiations reveal that design is always shaped by real constraints, the deadlines, clients, bills, and communities to represent. For design to matter, it looks for moments where critique and care still emerge, collaboratively, imperfectly, and among those willing to share the load.
In today's economy, the question remains: who gets to represent our visual culture?
